Job Description

Are you looking for something different this summer Join the team at Campbell River Whale Watching and Adventure Tours as a Tour Guide!As a member of the Guide Team with Campbell River Whale Watching and Adventure Tours you are responsible for the safety, enjoyment and positive experience of your guests. Guides are our boat captains, naturalists, and service professionals all wrapped into one!Job Type: Seasonal, May – SeptemberPart and Full time positions availableRequired Qualifications:

  • Master, Limited (60T) Certification
  • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP)
  • Small Vessel Machinery Operator (SVMO/SVMO-R)
  • MED Domestic Vessel Safety (DVS) or equivalent (MED A1/A2)
  • Marine Basic First Aid
  • Radio Operators Certificate - Marine Commercial (ROC-MC)
Required Skills and knowledge:
  • Experience operating similar vessels
  • Ability to safely navigate the tour area in dynamic weather conditions
  • Ability to work alone when required
  • Understanding of guests needs and ability to accommodate
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests
  • Comfortable operating a 30 passenger Covered Vessel
  • Comfortable operating 12 passenger RHIBs and/or Covered Vessels
  • Ability to share information and knowledge of local area, history, and wildlife
General Duties Include but are not limited to:
  • Operating vessel alongside a Naturalist/Deckhand with up to 30 passengers
  • Ensuring vessel is stocked with necessary safety equipment before leaving the dock
  • Pre-trip prep, including but not limited to engine checks and electronics checks
  • Completion of pre- and post-trip paperwork and log books
  • Delivering a pre-departure talk with guests and answering questions
  • Operating the vessel in a responsible manner around wildlife
  • Ensuring the comfort and safety of guests at all times
  • Serving guests lunch
  • Inspire guests and reiterate an ethic of conservation and sustainability
  • Ensuring guests have a great experience with Campbell River Whale Watching!
  • General cleaning of vessel
  • Other duties as required
