Job Description

Are you a Self-motivated individual with a desire to learn and develop in the field of architecture Do you have solid experience in the use of Revit BIM modelling softwareThe Architectural Designer will be the lead designer for our newest division focusing on small multifamily residential.The Architectural Designer will design, draft, and coordinate complete sets of architectural design drawings for townhouses, duplexes, and single-family homes across Vancouver Island.Your contributions to the team:

  • Designamp; draft architectural drawings for residential projects with guidance from others
  • Coordinate design drawings with energy requirements, truss designs, and structural drawings
  • Conduct building code reviews and coordinate with Internal Architect when needed
  • Complete review of city zoning bylaw to define design requirements
  • Attend internal and external project meetings on behalf of the design department
  • Provide weekly design updates to Design Manager and General Manager
  • Review shop drawings for trusses, foundation rebar, framing, etc
  • Assist in preparing conceptual exterior and interior renders for marketing purposes.
  • Assist in resolving construction conflicts by providing design and coordination assistance
What you need to be successful:
  • Minimum Diploma or Certificate in Architecture or Engineering Technology
  • Completion of Technology diploma from T.R.U. or B.C.I.T. seen as an asset
  • ASCT with ASTTBC or similar designation an asset
  • Degree in Architecture or Engineering an asset
  • Red Seal Trade certificate an asset
  • Experience with wood frame construction mandatory
  • 3-5 years’ experience in residential design
  • 3-5 years’ experience using Revit software to prepare architectural design drawings
  • Site experience an asset
  • General understanding of Part 9 of the B.C. Building Code.
  • Strong understanding of architectural drawing layout and standard presentation.
  • Strong understanding of wood frame construction
  • Ability to work in a faced paced environment without sacrificing efficiency or quality.
  • Ability to Prioritize projects and work to meet conflicting deadlines
