Job Description

Destination Campbell River operates the Campbell River Visitor Centre located in downtown Campbell River. Our top priority is connecting with visitors in a meaningful and efficient way, sharing Campbell River’s story and the unique possibilities that can be discovered within and around our community and region.We are searching for the ideal individual to join our Visitor Services team for the 2022 Summer Season as a Visitor Services Counsellor, you will have a unique opportunity to act as an ambassador for Campbell River, Strathcona Region and the surrounding area. Through the delivery of exemplary visitor and customer services by sharing your passion and knowledge of Campbell River and the region with travellers, residents and the community alike.Position Responsibilities: The Visitor Services Counsellor, has a strong appreciation for the importance of providing exceptional customer service and will actively seek means to improve visitors and the locals experiences. The Visitor Services Counsellor, will attend the Summer events throughout Campbell River and engage with visitors and locals with event activations such as games, visitor services, etc. When not working at events, the Visitor Services Counsellor will be providing support in the Visitor Centre.

  • Set up and take down the tent, and game activation.
  • Engage directly with attendees, and promote Campbell River and the surrounding region.
  • Be willing to share knowledge on the tastiest served dishes, amazing experiences and desired views. Divulge the best eagle viewing location.
  • Provide visitors with our highly sought after guide, map and stakeholder information
  • Educate visitors about local events, the Campbell River Collections app and locally-owned shops and tour operators
Requires and Qualifications
  • Outgoing, friendly and welcoming personality, quick with a joke.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Express a strong interest in the tourism/hospitality industry
  • Willing to work weekends and statutory holidays
  • This position is dependent on Canada Summer Jobs funding. Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age.
