  • Under the direction of the Grid Operations Field Manager (GOFM), plan and carry out work and supervise staff involved in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of power transformers, tapchangers, MUS’s, regulators, and auxiliary equipment at Central Maintenance Services .
  • Work with the Scheduling Department to plan and organize crews and material efficiently
  • Ensure that staff is organized efficiently and the proper tools, vehicles, and equipment are available, and maintained in good working order.
  • Train and develop staff and monitor work for safety, production and quality.
  • Continue to motivate, coach, and assess staff to improve performance.
  • Prepare detailed oral and written reports, staff appraisals and administrative reports.
  • Conduct safety meetings and ensure daily tailboards are being performed.
  • Utilization of SAP and other computer based systems when performing the above noted duties as required.
  • Accept an equitable portion of on call service duty and emergency work outside of normal work hours.
  • Identify and share improvement opportunities with GOFM
  • Relieve for the GOFM position as required.
  • Other duties as required.
Selection Criteria:
  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent education
  • Possess valid Construction and Maintenance Electrician License (309A ) or have completed a recognized electrical trade apprenticeship program.
  • All Regional Maintainer- Electrical (RME) training and technical reports completed, and have reached RME 1 designation.
  • Experience with Transmission and Distribution Station maintenance work.
  • At least eight years of relative experience in maintenance of power system equipment.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership ability, a high standard of safety and efficiency and applied knowledge of job planning, the Hydro One Safety Rules, Station Maintenance work practices and the Trades Supervisory Criteria and Responsibility Matrix.
  • Must have completed preparing to lead your crew or Health and Safety Training for Managers and Supervisors.
  • Experience in a supervisory position, either as a Trades Supervisor or gained through prolonged step-up, would be a definite asset.
  • In making this selection, primary consideration will be given to personal qualities such as leadership, reliability, demonstrated sound judgment, ability to organize and instruct and an understanding of the practice of positive labour relations.
  • Grade XII or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability in the overhaul of transformer an asset.
