Job Description

As a team we collaborate to solve problems, contribute ideas and challenge each other to ensure growth and ultimately success for the business and our employees.Job Summaryamp; Responsibilities EVRAZ NA is currently seeking a Lab Technician in Camrose, Alberta. This position is an integral part of the quality control process in ensuring compliance and customer satisfaction. This role is physically demanding and is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast paced technical environment. This position reports to the Quality Manager.

  • Operate laboratory and mechanical testing equipment including: bend tester, hardness tester, cutting saw, sample polisher and microscopes
  • Cut steel plate and pipe samples using oxy-fuel, plasma torch and CNC robot plasma cutter
  • Prepare and identify samples accurately and clearly and forwards to lab for testing
  • Follow detailed testing procedures and record findings as per documented guidelines, communicate results with appropriate stakeholders
  • Assist Mechanical Tester with day-to-day duties as required
  • Collaborate with all departments to meet business needs
Requirements
  • Mechanical testing experience required
  • Knowledge of ASTM, API, ASME, NACE and other testing requirements preferred
  • Ability to read and follow detailed technical procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong data entry skills, alpha and numeric in multiple programs
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders internally and externally to meet departmental needs
  • Strong math skills
  • Experience operating equipment and machinery (lathe, band saws and milling machines)
  • Oxy fuel cutting, plasma cutting and CNC operation experience
  • Self-starter with an ability to work independently
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and work an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust and noise as well as operate high value lab equipment in a controlled environment
  • Willingness to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime on short notice
