The manager works in the Regional and Community Program Delivery (RCPD) Branch of the Child Care and Youth Services Division of Children’s Services.Reporting to the Director, Innovative Projects and Program Support, this position is currently responsible for leading the Inclusive Child Care program and providing support for space creation initiatives. As more innovative programs and grants are managed under the Director, the manager must be flexible to take on new opportunities and responsibilities in this fast-moving environment. The position currently supervises six Program Specialists (PS4) and 5 Grant Specialists (PS4).The position is essential to ensuring all children in licensed childcare setting are included and respected as active participants in quality childcare programs. The manager will be responsible for reporting, planning, and building the programs, as well as training staff and educating childcare programs. The position will report to the Director, Innovative Projects, RCPD Branch and be responsible for producing and reporting on ministry priority outcomes involving programs supporting licensed childcare, particularly related to the Alberta Canada Early Learning and Child Care Agreement (ACELCCA). They will also work in collaboration with other RCPD managers, senior managers and other managers in the Child Care and Youth Services division. They will work with childcare programs and community partners to receive ongoing feedback and communication. The manager will strive to measure program outcomes and work towards continuous improvement.The position must demonstrate effective leadership to ensure that ministry initiatives are aligned with overall Government of Alberta and ministry mandates. The position facilitates initiatives and supports current programs through development, implementation, and continual enhancement of effective strategies, processes and working relationships.QualificationsA university degree in social sciences, business administration, or public administration plus a minimum of four years of progressively responsible supervisory or leadership experience in the area of social policy development for children, youth or families is required. Equivalencies will be considered.Experience with grants and contracts is highly desirable.Equivalencies will be considered: Master’s Degree and 1-year related experience; OR related diploma and 5 years related experience; OR related certificate and 6 years related experience.The successful candidate will also have experience using the Microsoft Office Suite products, particularly Excel.Assets:
