Job Description

Camrose Women’s Shelter Society (CWSS) operates a 22 bed facility that offers services in support of women and children requiring emergency shelter due to domestic violence, crisis situations or homelessness. We are currently recruiting for the following position:PERMANENT PART-TIME COOK

  • Classification: Non-Union
  • PT Hours: 20 hrs/week
  • Salary: $16.97 per hour
  • Hiring Date: Immediately
The part-time cook working hours are generally 10:00am – 2:00pm, Monday through Friday.Required QualificationsPreference will be given to candidates with a minimum two (2) years cooking experience in a residential setting. The candidate will have the ability to lift 50lbs, negotiate stairs, and stand for extended periods of time. You will have a professional manner, be compassionate, possess excellent organizational skills, be flexible and adaptable to quick changing environments, and have a basic understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and/or trauma. The following checks/certifications are also required:
  • Food Safe certification; Familiarity with Provincial Health Standards and Canada Food Guide
  • Criminal Record Check; Child Welfare Check
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • WHMIS training an asset
DescriptionReporting directly to the Family Support Coordinator, the Part-Time Cook is compassionate and understanding and has professional values. The candidate is primarily responsible for menu planning, weekly grocery list completion, cooking and meal preparation, as well as kitchen cleaning, sanitizing and records management.Trauma Informed Practice (TIP)Our Shelter maintains a policy of Trauma Informed Practice, which means having an awareness of trauma and its impacts, including speaking, acting and existing in ways that are least likely to trigger or further harm those who have experienced trauma. A trauma informed stance means applying the “universal caution” or approaching every individual as though they have experienced trauma.Job Types: Part-time, PermanentPart-time hours: 20 per weekSalary: $16.97 per hourBenefits:
