Performs direct supervisory role for areas of responsibility. Conducts staff performance appraisals prior to the end of the probationary period for new hires and annually thereafter In conjunction with CNE (and program manager as needed), addresses learning needs of staff. Develops and monitors learning and development plans for staff. Provides "stretch” opportunities when possible. Administers the applicable Collective Agreements for areas of responsibility. Attempts to achieve resolution of issues prior to escalation to grievance or arbitration. Creates staff schedules, utilizing available resources, for prime vacation periods in keeping with the requirements outlined in the collective agreements of staff within the portfolio and established program guideline. Responsible for hiring unit/department staff.
