Job Description

We are hiring at Valsoft for an experienced and dynamic Director of Tax to join our growing team in Canada!Valsoft is looking to hire a Director of Tax who will play a mission-critical role in managing and overseeing all aspects of our Tax function within our organization. As the Director of Tax, you will be responsible for developing and implementing tax strategies, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, and optimizing the organization #39;s tax position. This role requires a deep understanding of tax, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across our organization.   • Develop and implement tax strategies that align with the organization #39;s financial objectives and ensure compliance with tax laws
  • Provide guidance on tax planning initiatives, including on new acquisitions, and potential tax implications of business decisions
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of all required tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the organization
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely tax provisions, including deferred tax calculations and financial statement disclosures
  • Coordinate with the finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and complete tax reporting
  • Identify and assess potential tax risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Support the organization during tax audits and examinations, interacting with external auditors and tax authorities
  • Identify opportunities for tax savings, credits, and incentives
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as finance, legal, and operations, to structure transactions and business activities in a tax-efficient manner
  • Manage a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, training, and mentorship
  • Set performance goals and provide regular feedback to support the professional growth of team members
  • Interact with external auditors, tax authorities, and other relevant regulatory bodies
  • Address tax inquiries, respond to tax notices, and represent the organization during tax audits and examinations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as finance, legal, and operations, to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business processes and decision-making
  • Provide tax advice and support to other departments as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
About You:
  • At least 8+ years of experience in Tax
  • JD or LLB license to practice Law and a member in good standing in any jurisdiction in Canada
  • An advanced degree in Taxation and at least a bachelor #39;s degree or above in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law or a similar discipline is essential
  • Strong knowledge of Tax Laws and regulations, including Corporate, International, and State and Local Tax, in Canada is a prerequisite
  • International Tax experience is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in tax strategy development and implementation
  • Proficient in tax compliance software and financial systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, is essential
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
