More information can be found here.A great opportunity to take the next step in your careerThe BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) provides the foundation for which all aspects of wildfire response and emergency management are conducted in B.C., including planning, preparedness, response, and recovery. The provincial integrated response structure provides for critical operational linkages between jurisdictions and includes all stakeholders.When wildland fires threaten structures, the BCWS may be called upon by the Local Authorities to provide specialized resources for the purpose of structure protection and defence. Examples of these resources are Structure Protection Units (SPUs), engines, tenders, structural defence teams or other resources specific to structure protection. Normally, the Structure Protection Specialist (SPS) will represent the BCWS and supervise one or more Structure Protection Crews and resources while on site. The SPS is generally an in-field supervisor for structure protection and can be positioned as the Structure Branch Director within the Incident Command Structure system.
