Job DescriptionReporting to the Production Planning Manager, the Production Planner will be responsible for short and mid-term production planning to ensure that corporate customer service and inventory targets are achieved. The primary focus is the daily planning of production priorities, and preparation and update of the production schedules in a multi-plant environment. Duties include reviewing and distributing production work, and shipment schedules; conferring with plant supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; monitoring inventory levels and problem solving for our plant in Chambly, QC and Ayr, ON.
  • Work closely with the Production Planning Manager to review product demand from sales and forecasts and develops production schedules based on the planning system inputs;
  • Coordinate closely with the Plant Manager/Supervisor to be aligned on the execution of the production schedule;
  • Evaluate days of supply to ensure proper quantity, sequencing and prioritizing of production runs;
  • Create and maintain the production batches in the ERP system with production schedule dates and quantities;
  • Communicate the production schedule to the different stakeholders (Plant Manager, Production Supervisor, Yard Manager, Replenisher, Customer Service etc.);
  • Review shortages and respond to changing requirements in a timely manner, to satisfy customer needs;
  • Communicate and update any changes to the initial schedule;
  • Follow-up with the Plant Manager/Supervisor on the production output for each day to look for errors or omissions on the production data including production output, labor times, raw materials and down time of the plants;
  • Review the ERP’s production summary report and verify that the production data has been entered properly - have the inventory verified in the yard to ascertain that the quantities reported as produced match the physical count in the yard. Report as finished the production jobs and end the production batches after validation;
  • Respond to Customer Service, Operations requests in a timely manner;
  • Enter all month end production reporting into the ERP system;
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed;
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • University degree in a related field or transferable experience in the supply chain field;
  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in written English/French. English is required in order to service our customers and suppliers based in Ontario ;
  • Experience in a manufacturing multi-site environment preferred;
  • Fundamental knowledge of Supply Chain (planning and scheduling, production process and capabilities, inventory planning etc.);
  • Experience in using MRP system preferred;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Advanced knowledge in Excel is a plus)
  • Analytical and Mathematical skills;
  • The ability to work independently with strong decision-making skills.
  • Possess strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Sets and achieves challenging goals, demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles;
  • Reacts well under pressure, treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position;
