Job Location: Coquitlam, BCSalary Range: $68,000 - $75,000/ yearly The Payroll Team Lead is responsible for preparing and processing bi weekly payroll for union, non-union, hourly and salaried employees while ensuring a safe and professional work environment, which fosters BEST culture, mission, and values.The incumbent is responsible for completing various activities including but not limited to processing payroll, investigating payroll discrepancies, reconciliations, reporting, while staying up-to-date with Employment Standards and collective agreements.The ideal candidate will demonstrate superior performance in accordance to the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) requirements, anticipate and adapt to change as needed and must be able to communicate clearly and effectively. The Payroll Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the payroll team’s daily operations while providing support where needed.Responsibilities and Duties
  • Process payroll for over 1000 union, non-union, hourly and salaried employees;
  • Process garnishments and off-cycle payments as needed;
  • Investigate payroll discrepanciesamp; handle T4 related inquiries;
  • Process terminations and ROE’s:
  • Monitor workflow, team assignments and support direct reports;
  • Audit the work of the payroll admins ensuring that all work is completed accurately and timely;
  • Conduct biweekly one-on-one meetings with the direct reports;
  • Maintainamp; update training portal (remove terminated employees from portal);
  • Reconciliationsamp; reports (payroll, union dues report, seniority report,amp; more);
  • Provide Payroll and Timeamp; Attendance systems training for new Salaried staff;
  • Ensure new hires and payroll changes are processed in a timely manner and in compliance with all necessary regulations and laws;
  • Liaise with Site Managers/Admins to resolve payroll issues;
  • Remain up-to-date with Employment Standards, union collective agreements, and company policies;
  • Suggest changes and updates to payroll guide;
  • Other duties as required;
Skills Required:
  • Basic accounting knowledge;
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook,amp; intermediate knowledge of Excel);
  • Excellent interpersonalamp; communicational (writtenamp; verbal) skills;
  • Thorough understanding of BC, AB,amp; ON labour laws;
  • Experience with benefits administration an asset;
  • A focus on accuracy and completeness of reportingamp; analysis;
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines;
  • Experience leading a team of 3+ people;
  • Strong organizational, time management,amp; problem solving skills;
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervisionamp; in a team environment.
Educationamp; Experience:
  • Canadian Payroll Association PCP certification;
  • Payroll Leadership Professional PLP certification, or working toward designation will be considered an asset;
  • Minimum 3 years full cycle payroll experience in a high-volume environment with union and non-union, hourly payroll;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading a team of 3+ people;
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now considered an asset;
  • Acceptable security and criminal record check.
