Job Description

Want to work for a Crown Corporation in a growing community that is beautiful, safe, friendly and within a commutable drive of two of the biggest cities in Canada Please NOTE applicants MUST have the ability to communicate in both English and French. Our client’s head office is in Cornwall, Ontario with responsibilities that stretch over several Provinces in which they establish, operate, maintain, and administer and efficient pilotage services for commercial vessels in the interest of safety. The Finance Manager is responsible and accountable for the preparation of budgets and financial forecasting, review of financial reports, variance reporting, and analyzing revenues and expenses. This includes assisting with budget preparation, financial reporting, financial management, cash management, financial analysis of revenues and expenses, and other strategic-level responsibilities, as assigned. This position is also responsible for various periodical financial reports as well as ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS), the Financial Administration Act, and the company #39;s policies and directives. What we offer:

What you do:
  • Master the complete accounting cycle and company compliance.
  • Responsible for producing and reviewing statements to International financial reporting standards and preparing audit files for annual audits.
  • Prepare analysis and reports for management to support business decisions and strategic initiatives and working closely with various departments to identify opportunities for improving business processes and enhancing operational efficiency and initiates solutions.
  • Dive into the details of balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement, meticulously doublechecking for accuracy.
  • Responsible for financial analysis, variance analysis and reconciliations and analyzing past financial and operational results and predicts future trends.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance and optimization of financial policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Manages the section activities in a cost-effective manner.
  • Participation in the budget and forecast preparation (financial and traffic).
  • Conducts ad hoc analysis, including some related to costing and forecasting, as directed by the CFO.
  • Participates in special projects with the objective of continuous improvement in operational efficiency and reporting, eliminating non-valued activities as directed by the CFO. Development of direct reports as role progresses, therefore, will need to manage as required.
Who You Are:
  • CPA designation and bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent.
  • Five years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting and IFRS.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving and adaptability skills.
  • Have the ability to organize and plan workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal in both English and French (Mandatory)
  • Highly motivated and energetic with great Interpersonal, project management and business awareness.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail and desire to probe further into data and produce quality output within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative skills.
