The International Admissions Assistant (IAA) works with the International Admissions Officers (IAO) to facilitate the international admissions process with the goal of achieving an excellent service standard in support of courses and programs. The IAA is aware of the mission and values of North Island College, incorporating and practicing the values all aspects of their work.Position Competencies

Duties & Responsibilities1. Reviews international student applications and supporting documentation, provides information, via email, or by other methods, to international student applicants, agents, and partners, regarding the international admissions process at NIC.2. Prepares applicant files for IAO to complete final evaluations.3. Prepares and maintain letter templates and mail merge as an ongoing process.4. Monitors the iadmissions@nic.bc.ca inbox and responds to inquiries accordingly.5. Ensures new applications are processed and prepared for IAO in 1-2 days.6. Works in collaboration with the IAO to maintain and develop international admissions communications, processes, and service standards.7. Reports to the IAO any non-standard issues as they relate to admission requirements and individual student applications.8. Ensures adherence to current admissions policy and standards.9. Prepares statistical reports as required by the IAO, and OGE management team.10. Reviews the program applicant lists on an ongoing basis and takes appropriate action with each student’s record in the Colleaguesystem.11. Performs other duties as assigned by OGE management team.12. Participation in OGE team meetings and projects as required.Required Education & Experience1. A minimum of two years of post-secondary education.2. A minimum of two years recent work experience in international education at a post-secondary level.Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities1. General knowledge of BC post-secondary system2. Excellent knowledge and understanding of North Island College programs and courses available to international students.3. Familiarity with international credential assessment and language assessment organizations such as, UK ENIC (Ecctis), WES, WUSC, IELTS, TOEFL,4. Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency with MS Office Word and Excel5. Intermediate level experience with student information systems. (Ellucian Colleague is preferred)6. Excellent organizational and time management skills evidenced by the ability to plan and prioritize tasks and efficiently meet deadlines.7. Ability to demonstrate effective team behaviours such as active listening, collaboration, balanced participation, and contribution to shared team goals.8. Excellent oral and intercultural communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) with international students and agents.9. Ability to prioritize workflow and shift priorities quickly as directed OGE management and IAO needs.10. Ability to organize and prepare written materials in a clear and concise manner with close attention to detail is essential.11. Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, organizational, customer service and time management skills.12. Knowledge of rules and regulations governing international student study in Canada.13.
