Job Description

Civil Superintendent - Civil, Earthworks & Underground Utilities

  • The successful candidate will have prior experience delivering civil construction projects. This position is located in the beautiful Comox Valley, BC. This position is a key leadership role within our company. We will provide a competitive salary, a company pick-up, moving allowance, RRSP matching and much, much more.
  • We need you to ensure materials are on site, necessary equipment is ready, and create the plan for each day’s work. You must have a strong understanding of underground utilities. Must be a strong communicator and able to engage a team as a leader but also take direction. Your experience and industry knowledge will contribute to the ongoing management of the project ensuring deliverables are met.

  • We are building a new shop and office right now to house our growing team.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervises construction workforce and oversees on-site construction activities to construct the project effectively, safely and within budget.
  • Develops and maintains open communication with crews, trades, project team and clients to ensure project performance, safety and quality requirements are met.
  • Plays a large part in daily / weekly / monthly scheduling to determine manpower levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements.
  • Completes paperwork accurately each and every day.
  • Ensure that while production targets are met, our promise to our clients to provide a high-quality product is never compromised
  • If a project issue or a scheduling conflict occurs, you will be responsible for solving these problems
  • Understand job costing and forecasting costs to form a basis of decision on critical project tasks
  • Understand contracts to recognize scope change and associated responsibilities Strong troubleshooting skill set with the ability to resolve challenges on-site
  • Follow our COR Certified Safety program and maintain all safety documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: * Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience as a Foreman, Jr. Superintendent or Civil Superintendent.
  • Expert understanding of construction industry including: cost management project planning and scheduling.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and environmental procedures and legislation.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience using Microsoft Office Suite. Not scared away by project software or aps.
