With a relational focus, this role broadly reaches future student audiences and their community supporters (family members, counsellors, career counsellors, coordinators, teachers, community partners) and helps them understand how NIC can support them on their educational journey. The Future Students Engagement Officer works collaboratively with the Marketing & Future Students Team to develop resources, products and experiences that articulate NIC’s brand and values, and that communicate general information about NIC programs and courses, admission requirements, the application and registration process, financial aid and awards, support services and more. They organize and facilitate a variety of engagement events and initiatives such as group tours, mail outs, digital communications, and information sessions. They are also responsible for organizing NIC’s annual open house events across multiple campuses. The Future Students Engagement Officer is aware of the mission and values of North Island College and incorporates the values in everything they do.Position Competencies

Duties & Responsibilities1. Connects broadly with prospective student audiences and community supporters to build strong relationships, promotes NIC learning opportunities with a focus on the right fit, and articulate NIC’s brand values.2. Generates and nurtures leads through a variety of online and offline approaches. Provides tactical support with conversion activities, liaising with appropriate College departments as needed.3. Liaises with secondary school students, counsellors, career centre coordinators, and other school officials to develop informational resources. Organizes in person and virtual touch-points.4. Works collaboratively with other post-secondary institutions to improve student recruitment activities and maintain relationships with other schools (promoting transfer options and pathway agreements).5. Plans and develops engagement activities to effectively reach target audiences, including special market segments, as determined in the Annual Marketing & Recruitment plan.6. Collaborates with Marketing & Future Students in the production of domestic recruitment campaigns, printed products, presentations, email campaigns and digital content (video, social media). Ensures consultation with deans and department chairs as part of this process.7. Collaborates with Marketing & Future Students Team to develop resources and toolkits for community supporters and contacts.8. Supports the Manager, Marketing & Future Students in the development of audience personas, program, campus and service area profiles, and student testimonials. Helps organize and engage advisory panels and focus groups as required.9. Plans, develops, and facilitates online and offline prospective student engagement experiences, including campus tours and visits, information sessions, webinars, and workshops.10. Organizes and facilitates NIC’s annual open house events across multiple campuses.11. Consults and collaborates with NIC divisions, departments, faculty, staff and students12. Supports and liaises with Indigenous Navigators.13. Participates in College committees as assigned.14. Supports the Manager, Marketing & Future Students, in developing an annual plan to meet yearly recruitment and conversion goals that align with the Enrolment Planning process.15. Tracks and evaluates the outcomes of engagement activities. Makes recommendations for improvements to the Manager, Marketing & Future Students.16. Maintains knowledge of and adheres to current Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy regulations.17. Assists in the coordination of Student Ambassadors.18. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Marketing & Future Students.Required Education & Experience1. Bachelor’s Degree2. 3 or more years of experience in a post-secondary setting performing recruitment related activities preferredRequired Knowledge Skills & Abilities1. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and collaboratively across departments to work as part of a cohesive team2. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network and build relationships.3. Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a detailed-oriented and individualized approach. This includes the ability to communicate to culturally and socially diverse audiences.4. Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to engage audiences of various sizes.5. Excellent organization, time management, interpersonal, customer service and project management skills, as well as the ability and desire to work closely with both internal and external community groups.6. Strong understanding of the BC Secondary and Post-secondary Education systems, including familiarity with K-12 academic and philosophical changes7. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked team environment.8. Intermediate level of knowledge of office software, technology based communications, student record databases. Familiarity with colleague is an asset.9. Able to work flexible hours with some long work days, weekend work and able to travel for several weeks at a time throughout the year.10.
