Normal office hours are Monday to Friday though scheduled and unscheduled early morning, evening and weekend hours will be required in order to minimize service disruptions.% 100Pay Grade O (Interim): $32.76-$34.83Position SummaryReporting to the Manager, IT Infrastructure, and working under minimal supervision, the Network Systems Analyst is a member of the IT department and is responsible for researching, designing, installing, maintaining, and administering NIC’s data and voice infrastructure, server systems, network operating system(s), E-mail system(s), web servers and other related systems and services. The Network Systems Analyst will utilize IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices in applying proven and accepted communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate and resolve issues directly or indirectly affecting all college systems. The Network Systems Analyst is aware of the Mission and Values of North Island College incorporating and practicing these values in all aspects of the job.Position Competencies

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, install, monitor, support, maintain, problem-solve, and document the network and related systems logical and physical infrastructure.
  • Design and administer the network operating system(s) and related services including but not limited to the installation and configuration of enhancements and upgrades with minimal service disruption.
  • Design, configure, monitor, and document security procedures on servers and network hardware. Review new security software, hardware, and practices, provide input into security policy, and implement approved security procedures including the installation and configuration of the College firewalls.
  • Design, test, implement, monitor, and document security procedures on servers, network, and related services.
  • Administer the NIC Active Directory infrastructure and related Windows on-premise and cloud-based network services (e.g. Microsoft 365, Azure).
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to the Client Support Analysts on work related to the college’s network and systems
  • Configure, support, administer and maintain the physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure and server-based applications.
  • Research, design, test and implement approved procedures for college wide system backup(s), disaster recovery, site recovery and network operating system as required by the Department.
  • Setup, maintain and operate College-wide printers and multi-function devices.
  • Responsibly and clearly interpret and appropriately communicate complex information and situations.
  • Maintain technical currency in technologies supported by NIC IT.
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies, products, services, and protocols.
  • Interact with vendors and contractors to secure services, products, and transfers of knowledge.
  • Support the College-wide voice communications logical and physical infrastructure and oversee its maintenance.
  • Provide support on an escalated basis for the IT department and all College-wide employees.
  • Present features and operations of implemented technologies and products at a technical level to team members and a more generalized level to the College Community.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related program with an emphasis on the design and administration of Network Operating Systems and the design and implementation of Network and Information Systems hardware and infrastructure.
  • Relevant, current, advanced-level, industry certifications such as ITIL, MCSE or equivalent
  • More than five years of directly related experience and acquiring detailed, in-depth knowledge in the administration and management of Network and Server systems infrastructure.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Detailed knowledge/experience of network and server technologies, including but not limited to Exchange, Teams, Active Directory, System Center Suite, VMware, Veeam, Azure, ADFS, Microsoft 365, PowerShell etc.
  • Excellent conceptual understanding of networking and extensive experience with switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Strong practical knowledge and experience with virtualization technologies, SAN storage and backup/business continuity practices.
  • Experience with enterprise telephone infrastructure and/or Unified Communications.
  • Working knowledge of identity and authentication protocols
  • Working knowledge of cyber-security concepts, tools, and practices.
  • Self-motivated and directed with solid time management and organizational skills including the ability to establish priorities with minimum supervision and under workload, timeline, and budgetary constraints.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently and under time and monetary constraints.
  • Ability to locate, understand and synthesize technical information from a variety of sources to solve technical problems and maintain currency in the industry on a continual basis.
  • An understanding of any possible impact to the College and its users of change(s) and the responsibility to ensure proper due diligence is carried out before these changes are implemented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a strong customer service attitude and the ability to effectively communicate complicated technical ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Ability to plan, implement and guide projects with a college-wide scope.
  • Strong understanding of the department’s goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of programming/scripting and databases is an asset.
  • Ability to move, carry and install equipment in locations which may be physically restrictive and according to WCB standards.
  • Ability to keyboard with a high degree of accuracy.
  • A valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Work outside of normal working hours is required to minimize service disruptions to both students and the college.
