Job Description

Location: Mount Washington Alpine Resort, 1 Strathcona Parkway, Mt. Washington, BCEmployment Type: Seasonal, hourlyWage: $17.75 to $18.50/hour depending on skills and experienceReports To: Risk ManagerYour Opportunity:As a member of our Safe Slopes Patrol team, you will support and promote Mount Washington’s ski hill Risk Management program. You will be one the first people at the hill each day, and some of the last to leave. You must be a competent skier and/or snowboarder able to operate in one of the most beautiful and challenging environments around.Safe Slopes is deeply involved in our Alpine operations, including patrolling, hazard identification, guest relations, and incident investigations. To be successful you will be self-motivated and able to be cooperative and creative in a team environment. Our Safe Slopes Patrollers take pride in generating good times for themselves, their co-workers, and the public both on and off the clock.We offer great benefits!   • Perform duties and tasks assigned by the Risk Manager and Assistant Risk Manager
  • Perform Incident Investigations
  • Educate co-workers and the public, and enforce the Alpine responsibility code and slow skiing areas
  • Manage alpine risks, identify and mark
  • Assist with search and rescue including avalanche rescue and chair lift evacuation
  • Operate machinery including snowmobiles and rescue equipment
  • Adhere to Mount Washington Standard Operating Procedures
  • Attend Mount Washington training and comply with all Resort and WorkSafeBC policies and procedures.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • Competent alpine skier, telemark skier, or snowboarder in all snow conditions and terrain
  • Able to work in all weather conditions for extended periods
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Mount Washington ski area an asset.
