We also have a Community Development department, where the team is always looking for opportunities to assist our local communities to grow and prosper.What are we hiring forWe are looking for a termed part time Event Planner based in our Creston office. This position sits in our Community Development Division, specifically the Event Planner will be working with the Creston Valley-Kootenay Lake Economic Action Partnership. This position will be responsible for planning and executing the events in this area.Responsibilities include:

  • Plan event with attention to financial and time constraints
  • Utilize project management best practice to coordinated events
  • Book venues
  • Schedule speakers if required
  • Research vendors (location, catering, decorators, musicians etc. if needed) and choose the best combination of quality and cost
  • Negotiate with vendors to achieve the most favorable terms
  • Ensure insurance covers event
  • Enlist staff support if required
  • Manage all event operations (employer contact, client contact or mailouts, preparing venue, invitations etc.)
  • Do final checks at the day of the event (e.g. tables, technology) to ensure everything meets standards
  • Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems
  • Evaluate event’s success and submit reports
  • Staff engagement event coordination

  • Well-organized with multi-tasking skills
  • Able to handle stress and remain calm
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Excellent vendor management skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Knowledge of basic recruitment practices
