Be part of something great and feel the impact you make on the community you live in.Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting the Controller to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Finance and Management Information Service areas of the company. Position ResponsibilitiesHere’s what your day-to-day looks like:
  • Provide leadership, planning, and organization to help direct the Finance Department.
  • Coordinate the financial and information reporting systems of the company.
  • Maintain a reporting system to top management indicating each months actual figures compared to budgeted amounts.
  • Ensure the proper supervision of completing routine and daily accounting functions, especially with regard to daily cash procedures, invoicing, and general ledger accounting.
  • Monitor the financial records and ensure that they are maintained in an accurate and timely manner, including costs, expenses and profit analysis.
  • Assist the Controller in maintaining up-to-date insurance records and generate reports.
  • Review and monitor bank deposits in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain the General Ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Reconcile cash accounts to the bank statements on a monthly basis.
  • Monitor Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables while owning various Accounts Payables duties.
  • Reporting of job cost information – estimate vs. actual and variance analysis (efficiency vs. cost variance).
  • Review operational and sales reports to determine the current status versus monthly and annual goals (both volume and Gross Profit targets).
  • Support and enforce the use of the functional organization and enforce the use of operating policies and procedures.
Job RequirementsOur ideal candidate has the following:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration with Accounting and Computer Systems emphasis, from an accredited college or university.
  • CPA designation, or working towards your designation is considered an asset
  • 5+ years of financial experience in a medium size (25-35 Million dollar volume) building/contracting organization, including financial responsibilities.
  • Ability to create effective and efficient systems to capture information for both management and financial reporting purposes.
  • Proficient in responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
  • In-depth knowledge of MIS, spreadsheets, Word Processing and LAN
  • Must be able to comprehend the use of various business math formulas and statistical equations in computing the financial results or planning for the company.
  • Able to utilize spreadsheets in formulating possible results based on different scenarios.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Experience in AR, AP, GL, preliminary tax preparation, budget planning, financial reporting, banking, auditing internal records and results, payroll, and credit control and collections.
  • Experience in all aspects of accounting is an asset.
