Job Description

META is seeking a Communications Advisor to be based at our headquarters in Dartmouth, NS.   • Support the building and maintaining of relationships with journalists and influencers. Develop new and strengthen current relationships across multiple media verticals and within identified global media markets
  • Create communications materials including key message development, blogs and other communication content as required.
  • Assist with the development of strategic communication plans
  • Support crisis communications and issues management, developing key messaging and working with internal and external stakeholders to protect and manage the reputation of the brand
  • Develop pitch ideas and story angles and initiate outreach to media and industry publications
  • Develop and create video content. Responsible for storyboard to finished product. Includes producing, shooting, and editing.
  • Design and compile press kits for journalists and influencers and coordinate the logistical process.
  • Support the development of media fact sheets, backgrounders, videos and photo assets
  • Develop cross-channel social media campaigns and social media content.
  • Manage daily media and social media monitoring
  • Manage PR campaign data and reporting, measure the impact and analyze results of the campaigns
  • Record, track and calculate the corporate PR metrics and quarterly reporting through Meltwater
  • Support other team members with internal communications initiatives as required
Some of the typical responsibilities will include:
  • You would be responsible for social and media monitoring, generating content including video and leveraging communications-related opportunities.
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism (or equivalent related experience)
  • Three years’ experience in media relations and developing briefing material
  • Experience in coordinating media requests and managing related approval processes
  • Experience preparing briefing material for media interviews
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills – the ability to develop a variety of written materials for different audiences under tight timelines
  • Experience creating video content and overseeing the production of videos
Preferred qualifications:
  • Robust understanding of the media landscape (digital and print), including metric tracking
  • Experience with media and social monitoring tools, (HUBSPOT and Meltwater is preferred) and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Video journalist or experienced content creator an asset
  • Excellent writing skills
