Job Description

Coordinator, Human Resources (Contract)Dartmouth, NSReference HL-15031Since 2003, our client Heritage Gas Limited, has operated a regulated natural gas distribution franchise in Nova Scotia providing natural gas service to customers in Halifax, Dartmouth, Pictou, Amherst, and Oxford. Heritage Gas also offers natural gas service through compressed natural gas (CNG) trucking to users currently outside the traditional pipeline distribution network. The company is a subsidiary of TriSummit Utilities Inc., based in Calgary, Alberta.On behalf of Heritage Gas, we are seeking a Coordinator, Human Resources (HR) for an 18-month contract with their talented team in Dartmouth, NS. Reporting to the Human Resources Business Partner, the Coordinator, HR is an integral part of a small HR team responsible for the day-to-day administration of the payroll and human resources processes, including a subject matter expert within the human resources information system. This opportunity is ideal for a self-motivated individual, comfortable working with minimal direction, and interested in impacting the people culture at Heritage Gas.Key responsibilities will include:Supporting the recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding processes.Maintaining records of personnel-related data in both paper and the human resources information system.Responding to internal HR related inquiries or requests and providing assistance as required.Processing timesheets and leaves required for payroll processing.Supporting and performing payroll processing.Generating reports and maintaining data processing tasks within the human resources information system as required.Providing administrative support as required.Acting as a single point of contact for facility contracts and relationships.Pre-approving facility related invoices.The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and requirements:Diploma in office administration or human resources or related field from a recognized college with two years of relevant experience. Working towards the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation would be considered an asset.Proficient in Microsoft Office and human resources management software (experience with UKG is considered an asset).Knowledge of payroll/HR legislation and best practices.Excellent people management skills.Ability to have attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to embrace a flexible work style to multi-task.Maintain confidential, accurate, and up-to-date employee files and HRIS data.Perform other projects and duties as directed.We are looking for a professional who is results oriented and effectively manages personal resources to achieve goals.
