Job Description

Over the years, the company has expanded to offer safety consulting, safety training and industrial hygiene services. Through its growth, DMC’s core business purpose has remained the same – to advocate for employers, keep workers safe, minimize lost time and increase productivity for their clients every day.Dallas Mercer Consulting (DMC) is seeking full-time Disability Appeals Consultant to join their team in Mount Pearl, NL, Dartmouth, NS or Moncton, NB. The ideal candidate is a motivated, energetic, career-minded individual. As a Disability Appeals Consultant, you will support our team of disability managers by providing policy and legislation expertise for Workers Compensation management and appeals. By utilizing your analytical skills and knowledge of Workers Compensation legislation and policy, you will work to identify issues impacting claim resolution and develop creative and proactive approaches to file resolution.Responsibilities:

  • Give accurate and timely counsel to DMC staff and clients in the area of workers’ compensation and sick leave/insurance benefits
  • Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders
  • Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation, in particular WCB legislation across Canada
  • Collaborate with internal Disability Management Consultants and employers to develop and execute strategies for appeals and claim resolution
Qualifications:
  • University degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the principles of Workers Compensation Boards across Canada.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience operating within the Workers Compensation Acts and Policies, as well as sick leave/insurance policy.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset
