Reporting to the Director, Policy & Physician Wellness Initiatives, you will be responsible for research, policy analysis, developing project plans, preparing various e-Health documents, representing DNS on various committees and working groups, and leading the work of the e-Health Committee, which reports to the Board of Directors.Why work with usBeing a part of the DNS team means you will be working in a dedicated, positive and supportive environment.   • Conduct targeted research and policy analysis on identified e-Health opportunities, including virtual care, electronic medical records, One Person One Experience, artificial intelligence-powered solutions, and consumer health applications.
  • Develop eHealth project plans, scoping, supporting and/or leading projects for DNS or co-planning and co-leading projects with key stakeholders such as the NS Department of Health & Wellness, Nova Scotia Health/IWK.
  • Represent DNS on various working groups and committees (e.g., One Person One Record Physician Advisory Committee, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Use of Data Committee, EMR Provincial Governance Committee).
  • Lead DNS’ e-Health Committee by developing and updating key priorities & focus, planning and conducting committee meetings, and preparing committee deliverables and board submissions.
  • Working with the DNS compensation team, prepare and negotiate appropriate virtual care compensation & other e-Health funding (e.g., Master Agreement e-Health funding, virtual care billing codes/stipends).
  • Based on DNS priorities, prepare e-Health documents of various lengths and complexities, including policy reports, briefings, submissions, presentations, surveys, speaking points and magazine articles.
  • Provide oversight of DNS’ e-Health Advisor to co-plan workload and priorities and troubleshoot various issues that emerge from physicians’ day-to-day work in their practices related to EMRs, virtual care tools, e-Health compensation vehicles, etc.
  • Liaise with DNS Privacy Officer and IT Systems Manager to respond to e-Health privacy and security issues and opportunities.
  • Work with e-Health vendors to understand and influence rapidly changing arrays of products, services, pricing, etc.
  • Monitor provincial e-Health landscape and trends and engage members and stakeholders to identify emerging issues and opportunities.
  • Identify physician education opportunities in the e-Health domain and work with the Communications team to implement programs.
Your skills and experience include:
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to engage numerous stakeholders in achieving a desired outcome.
  • The ability to apply advanced critical thinking skills and experience to conceptualize and define policy challenges and opportunities and recommend creative policy options and solutions using the best available evidence.
  • The ability to communicate complex issues verbally and in writing to facilitate understanding and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of the Nova Scotia health system and health issues of provincial and national priority.
  • Knowledge of the Nova Scotia e-Health environment and current e-Health solutions and tools.
  • Strong change and project management skills and ability to work on a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Facilitation skills.
  • The ability to demonstrate good judgment, solid decision making and act with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to work within tight deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Being flexible for evening and weekend work as needed is a requirement for this position.
Our requirements:
  • A university degree and/or a combination of equivalent training, education, and experience.
