Join a team that has the environment down to a science.Your OpportunityWe have immediate openings for Junior Air Quality, Acoustic and Climate Change Engineers, Engineers-in-Training or Scientists to join our team. The role could potentially be located in Dartmouth, NS, Fredericton, NB, Charlottetown, PEI or St. John’s, NL.Stantec’s Air Quality, Climate Change and Acoustics group is dedicated to helping our clients manage air quality, climate change issues and noise emissions professionally and proactively. Our professional engineers and scientists provide specialized services to a wide variety of sectors including manufacturing, industry, commercial, transportation, and government. We offer a full suite of services including design and permitting support, monitoring programs, predictive modelling, greenhouse gas emission quantification, management and verification, climate change risk and adaptation studies and much more. We are looking for support in all these areas and would tailor the role depending on the chosen candidate’s previous experience and interests.Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting in-field and on-site setup, monitoring and maintenance of air quality or acoustic monitoring equipment.
  • Collection of data and information (desktop and at client facilities).
  • Data analysis and interpretation.
  • Scientific and engineering calculations.
  • Regulatory and literature review and research.
  • Predictive air dispersion modelling or acoustic modelling.
  • Authoring technical related reports and documents.
QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written in English) is required.
  • Strong quantitative and computer skills with Microsoft Office software is required.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience in planning and conducting ambient air quality monitoring field work, acoustic field work or stack emissions testing or other field based sampling would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with estimation of greenhouse gas and contaminant emission rates using different methodologies (i.e., emission factors, engineering calculations, engineering judgment, etc.) and air dispersion modelling of stationary and mobile emission sources using modelling programs such as AERMOD would be an asset.
  • Experience with Greenhouse Gas quantification, verification, mitigation, and reduction planning would be an asset.
  • Experience in collecting and/or analyzing climate data, including climate projection data from regional or global climate models would be an asset.
  • Experience in preparing climate adaptation plans or climate change risk/vulnerability assessments would be an asset.
  • Experience conducting noise modelling (e.g., Cadna), monitoring, data analysis and reporting would be an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for work within the Atlantic provinces on a routine basis is required
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Meteorology, Atmospheric Chemistry, or related Environmental Sciences is required.
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering or relevant science would be an asset.
  • A technical diploma such as Environmental Technology or Engineering Technology with related experience in some of the above areas would also be considered.
