Job Description

What We Are Looking ForWe are seeking an experienced, highly attentive, and motivated individual to join our Property team. Our Property Legal Assistant help the Paralegals facilitate full-cycle real estate transactions and work related to purchase, sale, refinance, and new home construction.*Responsibilities include*:

  • Conducting client intake, conflict searches, and opening new client files;
  • Reviewing and prioritizing incoming mail, coordinating faxes, and drafting routine correspondence for lawyer review;
  • Completing final reports;
  • Maintaining up to date client files, both paper and electronic;
  • Processing large volumes of documents, with ability to use technology to store and organize files diligently;
  • Processing e-submissions and scanning documents to Property Online; and,
  • Supporting the lawyers in their day-to-day activities when Paralegals are out of the office.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Graduate of a legal assistant/paralegal program or equivalent combination of training and experience considered an asset;
  • Previous Legal Assistant experience considered an asset;
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team, contributing to the success of the practice;
  • Proven ability to manage time and demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline driven work environment;
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow instructions with minimal supervision;
  • Proactive approach, thinking ahead to upcoming work and preparing appropriately and effectively;
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to accurately proofread and edit documents; and,
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
