MetOcean Telematics offers products and services across the monitoring system spectrum, from needs assessment, solution design, product selection, and development, to Iridium satellite connectivity and ongoing monitoring, equipment, and data support.Our head office is located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. The proximity of our facility to the ocean is of prime importance to our plant. Both the Bedford Basin at the head of Halifax Harbour and the nearby open ocean provide a test facility no lab or test tank can duplicate. Our facilities have recently expanded to occupy a facility of over 40,000 sq. ft. of space that is divided into offices, labs, prototyping facilities, electronics assembly/storage, and mechanical assembly. Approximately 20,000 sq. ft. of our space is strictly dedicated to use as manufacturing space.About the Role: Working with all parties in the supply chain, you will be mainly responsible for the efficient coordination of customers’ logistic needs and providing exemplary service to both internal and external customers. Reporting directly to the Director, Operations, you will be facilitating the fulfillment of finished MetOcean products, ensuring the accuracy of data in our ERP, and ensuring effective distribution of materials to the production line.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate all inbound and outbound shipments
  • Ensure on-time pick-up of shipments, monitor them while in transit to ensure successful on-time delivery, as per customer expectations
  • Establish processes to streamline daily logistical operations for the movement of materials in the most cost-effective manner
  • Implement processes to manage and integrate a common materials flow and information center for all goods and services across the project
  • Arrange routing, bookings, rates, special documentation, consolidations, timelines and communicate to sales and/or customers when changes occur
  • Be aware of rates/contracts with service agents, carriers, etc., and ensure that preferred carriers are utilized to obtain the lowest available shipment cost
  • Assemble orders and prepare goods for shipping
  • Record shipment data, including weight, charges, and space availability
  • Identify any discrepancies, problems, issues and report to management
  • Responsible for debit notes for damages or shortages caused by carriers and initiate insurance claims where necessary
  • Plan and track the shipment of final products according to customer requirements
  • Oversee and facilitate the fulfillment of customer Sales Orders
  • Prepare accurate reports for upper management
  • Provide feedback to drive improvements in ERP
  • Perform administrative and related production-related duties as assigned
  • Adhere to the ISO quality system requirements
What you’ll bring:
  • Professional certification in trade association(s) such as CITT, CIFFA, IATA
  • 3-5 years experience in a freight forwarding/shipping environment
  • Familiar with small package shipping is an asset
  • Knowledge of customs paperwork and processes for the international export of goods i.e. Commercial Invoices, NAFTA, B13, FCC
  • A valid certificate in shipping dangerous goods via air and ground
  • Supply Chain or Logistics Certification an asset
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Time management and accuracy is essential in all transactions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and change management
  • Experience in customer service
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and ISO requirements
  • Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes
  • Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of logistics software (ERP)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills a requirement
