The work of the CHS is process-based, and the position of Manager, Quality Management and Planning will ensure the efficacy of, and adherence to these processes. This position will both coordinate with staff and liaise with senior managers, to ensure the effective administration of the Quality Management System.Work environmentThe Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) is part of Fisheries and Oceans Canada within the Science Sector. Since 1883, CHS has studied the oceans, lakes and rivers of Canada to ensure their safe and sustainable use and to allow navigation in these waters. The Atlantic Region of the CHS is comprised of an office at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and one at the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland; the position is based in the Dartmouth office.Positions to be filled: 1Information you must provideYour résumé.In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)EDUCATION:

  • Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, OR an acceptable combination of experience and training relevant to the position.
Note: Experience relevant to the position would be defined as at least two yearly fiscal cycles of experience directly related to the essential experience requirements.Degree equivalencyEXPERIENCE:
  • Experience providing advice and recommendations to middle and senior management on strategic planning, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience providing guidance and direction to staff on strategic planning, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience in improving various business processes leading to improved business performance, through behaviours such as identifying, measuring, and controlling processes.
  • Experience in providing a full range of administrative services, including but not limited to: human resources, finance, material management.
  • Experience with an existing Quality Management System such as, but not limited to ISO 900X (ISO 9000 family of standards), Six Sigma.
