Job Description

Why this roleWe are seeking a highly motivated, adaptable, and organized individual to join BOYNECLARKE’s Personal Injury Practice Team. Our ideal candidate has the ability to anticipate needs, is solution-minded, thinks critically, has impeccable attention to detail, and genuinely enjoys Personal Injury and Litigation, with an interest in continued learning and development. As a Paralegal on the Personal Injury team, you will be working in a highly collaborative environment focused on delivering exceptional client service.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesAs a Paralegal, your responsibilities will include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Draft and prepare pleadings, litigation disclosure and other court documentation
  • Filing court documents with the court and arranging/overseeing service of these documents;
  • Keep files up to date with notes from both internal/external meetings and teleconferences to which the Paralegal participates with the lawyer;
  • Review files and provide file status summaries and suggested action plans for the lawyer;
  • Draft correspondence with respect to various legal and file issues under lawyer’s review and supervision);
  • Assist lawyer with contacting and interviewing witnesses;
  • Monitor and track all civil procedure deadlines;
  • Review, vet, and flag relevant information in file documents for lawyer’s review;
  • Assist lawyer with legal research;
  • Assist lawyers with clients’ Section B and disability claims;
  • Other paralegal and incidental administrative duties as required from time to time.
Qualifications and SkillsTo be successful, you possess the following qualifications and skills:
  • Graduate of a Paralegal diploma with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in litigation or/personal injury, or combined relevant years’ experience;
  • Preference to candidate with previous experience in Personal Injury and/or Litigation;
  • Ability to think critically, utilize experience to make judgment calls, with a solution-minded approach to work;
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to anticipate, plan, and adapt to shifting priorities;
  • Excellent proofreading, editing, and writing skills, with the ability to produce highly accurate documentation;
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision;
  • Proven ability to be self-motivated and accomplish work efficiently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service;
  • Technically adept using Outlook and Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, and an aptitude for learning new computer programs quickly;
  • Familiarity with using Westlaw and other legal research platforms;
  • Propensity for contributing to a positive and collaborative culture;
