Job Description

The Bruno Group of Companies is comprised of a number of Halifax-based companies that aim to exceed the diverse needs of our construction clients. We are making our mark with large-scale development projects through Black + Bru Construction Managers Inc. We are looking for a Project Manager to join our growing team.Being part of our talented team will give you the opportunity to work on some really cool projects such as a micro-suite conversion of an 8-story hotel, a 141-unit loft conversion of the Centennial Office Tower and our adaptive re-use project at the United Memorial Church in North End Halifax.   • Work in collaboration with Construction Manager to finalize project estimates/budgets that meet investor/owner requirements.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for constructability of projects.
  • Construct project estimates/budgets with assistance of Construction Manager and project team. Including quantity take offs and having a good understanding of current industry rates.
  • Project budget tracking and forecasting
  • Create and track request for proposal (RFP) packages for subcontractors including completion of RFP closing.
  • Formalize bid recaps for owner review/approval
  • Construct and review specific trade scopes of work with project team.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts with subtrades.
  • Navigate change order processes
  • Prepare/issue purchase orders to vendors
  • Good understanding of trade contracts.
  • Create, maintain and foster trade and consultant relations
  • Establish site plans, fire safety plans, safety plans, etc. in collaboration with site superintendent and project team.
  • Create project schedules and track throughout course of construction. Ability to use Microsoft Project is considered an asset.
  • Collect all documentation from subcontractors as required (WCB, Insurance, Stat decs, etc.)
  • Lead construction projects from start up to project close out. Including preconstruction and deficiency/warranty periods.
  • Lead project progress meetings with the project team and subcontractors.
  • Conduct site quality control inspections with Site Superintendent.
  • Read and understand project drawings
  • Manage Request for Information (RFI) and Site Instruction (SI) processes
  • Chase, review, submit and track shop drawing process
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure project portal is current
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years project management experience in construction industry
  • Certificate in Construction Management, Engineering Technologist or Engineering degree is considered an asset
  • Ability to use Procore is considered an asset
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings
  • Strong understanding of safety legislation and best practice.
  • Strong supervisory and management skills
