Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.ResponsibilitiesThe Forensic Sexual Behaviour Program (FSBP) offers specialized assessment and treatment services to individuals in Nova Scotia whose sexual behavior has crossed legal boundaries. Treatment is currently being offered in four areas across the province (Kentville, Dartmouth, Truro and Sydney), whereas assessment is primarily centralized in Dartmouth where the coordination of FSBP services for the province is based. The Clinical Psychologist will work under the direction of the Program Lead to ensure the effective provision of evidenced-based services while enhancing community safety. Duties include the facilitation of specialized group treatment and risk assessment, as well as program development activities, research, and involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings. While court testimony is infrequent, it is a potential aspect of any work conducted at the FSBP. Independence will be both expected and encouraged.Please Note: This position is eligible for a bi-weekly market adjustmentRecruitment incentives and /or relocation may be offered to the successful candidates based on qualifying criteria.Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (MA/MSc) from a recognized, accredited program in Clinical Psychology or Forensic Psychology (or equivalent)
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP) in good standing
  • Minimum of two years related clinical experience
  • Minimum of two years research experience including use of SPSS
  • Requires demonstrated ability to conduct diagnostic psychological interviews and assessments
  • Requires independent professional judgement, initiative, self-reliance and adaptability in developing, organizing, supervising and delivering high quality psychological services and programs
  • Requires demonstrated ability for effective self-care and stress management
  • Risk assessment training is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with psychometric tests addressing personality and deception is preferred
  • Demonstrated skills in DSM-V diagnosis is an asset
  • Experience in a forensic setting, particularly with sexual offenders is preferred
  • Competencies in other languages is an asset; Mi’kmaq, Arabic, or French preferred
  • Successful candidates must have a clear CRC/VSS.
