SECURITY ADVISOR, INFRASTRUCTURELocated at 3099 Barrington Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, B3K 5M7, and 35 Micmac Boulevard, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, B3A 4Y8, Irving Shipbuilding has a proud history as Canadas shipbuilder. A proud member of the J.D. Irving, Limited group of companies, we have been building quality vessels and fabricated modules for more than 50 years, and our Halifax Shipyard has been at the forefront of Canadian shipbuilding for 130 years.Since 2012, we have invested more than $400 million in facilities, people, processes, and technology, making Halifax Shipyard one of the most modern and capable shipyards in North America. Over the next 30 years our shipbuilders will construct 20+ modern patrol ships and surface combatants for the Royal Canadian Navy as part of Canadas National Shipbuilding Strategy, the largest defence procurement in Canadian history. This year we delivered the second lead Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship, the largest Navy ship built in Canada in 50 years and were just getting started. The third ship will be delivered in 2022.We are growing our team with career-defining opportunities that will revitalize Canadas shipbuilding industry and provide Canadas sailors with the ships they need to protect Canadas interests at home and abroad. Our workforce of over 2,000 will grow to more than 2,800 at peak construction of the Canadian Surface Combatants. We have built more than 80% of Canadas current combatant fleet and continue to perform maintenance and modernization work on the ships, including the Halifax-class frigates.Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Security Advisor, Infrastructure.This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English.   • Academically qualified with a recognized university bachelor’s degree in a related field;
  • Years of Experience Required:
    • 10 years of experience in a Project Management role, working in a facilities/programmatic environment required;
    • 10 years of experience in a Security Management role required;
    • Experience working with Facilities, Supply Chain or Subcontractor management required; An advantage if the candidates has experience in more than one of the aforementioned areas;
    • Canadian Controlled Goods Program or comparable government programs;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Problem solving skills and ability to lead and manage multiple priorities in a fast pace environment;
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills; energetic and results-focused;
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office.
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as Stakeholder on behalf of Defence Trade Compliance, for all current and future Facilities Projects at ISI. Promote a positive Security culture within the projects. Support a culture of collaboration, enthusiasm, and a proactive nature within the projects;
  • Coordinate and work closely with the CSC Facilities and Maintenance Engineering Teams. Provide oversight and support regarding for ISI Facilities in relation to Contract Security Program & Controlled Goods Requirements;
  • Mature and execute the Detailed Design Plans for ISI Infrastructure Upgrades;
  • Provide oversight in the evaluation of Infrastructure Changes to ensure that impacts, risks, and issues related to Detailed Design and Acceptance Activities are identified, communicated, and recorded for ISI and Bayside;
  • Coordinate with DTC Opsec & Infosec Management, to ensure alignment for all project requirements. Coordinate and work closely with the ISI Defence Trade Compliance team, with regards to shared interests with ISI and Bayside;
  • Act as the Authority, and Subject Matter Expert regarding Bayside Distribution’s requirements under the Contract Security Program. Coordinate and work closely with the Bayside Management Team. Will act as the Company Security Officer (CSO) and Designated Official for Bayside Distribution;
  • Collaborate with ISI’s DTC Opsec Manager or their Designate, to ensure accuracy and accountability regarding Assets under the Care and Control of Bayside Distribution;
  • Foster an environment that is focused on safety and recommend process improvement initiatives;
  • Comply with all company procedures.
