Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for effectively executing the receiving, material storage and material distribution functions, ensuring accuracy, material integrity and material delivery in a dynamic manufacturing and distribution environment.Job Responsibilities

  • Load/unload trailers as assigned by the Distribution Supervisor or Warehouse Manager.
  • Sort and scan freight.
  • Ensure the correct product ID/Code is on each product and verify the content.
  • Order picking as assigned and ensure proper product in rotation.
  • Perform daily pre-shift inspections of assigned lifting equipment and report any hazardous situations.
  • Communicate shipment discrepancies or errors to the Distribution Supervisor or Warehouse Manager upon detection.
  • Advise supervisor of any maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure completion of all tasks, as assigned by the Distribution Supervisor or Warehouse Manager.
  • Clean floors and remove debris and garbage throughout the distribution areas.
  • Ensure proper protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times while working.
  • Follows all applicable Sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOP’s).
  • Follow all applicable occupational health and safety and food safety procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Previous experience in the food industry an asset
  • Must have previous forklift, and pallet truck experience (all operators are required to complete in house certification)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, communicate with sales team members, transportation personnel and Ippolito drivers, as well as external customers, including carriers and maintenance companies.
  • Knowledge of GMP’s, SOP’s safety regulations.
  • Knowledge, use of, and ability to handle sanitation chemicals.
  • Knowledge of food industry is desirable.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Office, and email
  • English language proficiency is required.
