Grow with us.Department OverviewAbout Finance Operations:The Finance Operations (FinOps) centre, located in Greater Moncton, New Brunswick, is an integral part of the Finance organization, delivering efficient finance services with a commitment to operational excellence. We are building and developing a diverse team of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals who want to make a difference with TD. Our goal is to attract a broad talent pool of experienced finance operations personnel and post-secondary graduates, which reflect the diversity of TD and its customers. The centre resides in TD’s new Corporate Office located at Cadillac Fairview’s CF Champlain shopping centre in Dieppe.Role Overview:This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of TD's Finance organization. TD Securities provides a wide range of capital market products and services to corporate, government, and institutional clients in Canada, and key financial centers such as New York and London. The TD Securities accounting team is responsible for preparing accounting entries, reconciliations and reports for financial and regulatory reporting. Reporting to the Senior Manager the Manager is responsible to lead a large multi-faceted accounting operations function with responsibility for providing strategic direction and day-to-day guidance on broad range of complex accounting and operational activities.Job DescriptionRole Accountabilities:Lead a high performing team of finance professionals responsible to perform general accounting functions for complex capital markets productsTeam accountabilities include:Gathering of manual and system generated data to prepare, review and post journal entries and required transactionsPreparation and review of complex account reconciliations with trade level data to source systems such as CalypsoPerform a variety of accounting functions for income statement and balance sheet, intercompany and inter-desk balancing, and foreign exchangeAnalysis and investigation of reconciliation and data issues; complex trouble shootingReviewing/Approving/Authorizing major payments/wires on daily/monthly basis along with ensuring Bank Reconciliations and managing oversight of Funds.Active implementation of process improvement and automation across all desksUnderstand the risk profile of the work and maintain a strong controls environment and audit ready position; execute existing controls and implement new controls as neededStrive for operational excellence through ongoing identification of process improvements to increase productivity, simplify and enable automation to free up resource capacityEffectively communicate with finance partners to confirm data and assumptions, and proactively provide insight to issues and trendsDeliver quality service; achieve team performance goals such as SLAs, KPIs and productivityGuide team on approaches to achieve targets through periods of change and transformationCoach to ensure operational problems are handled appropriately, and participate in the negotiation and resolution of complex and/or escalated issues where necessaryKeep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impactsMaintain own knowledge of end-to-end processes, internal / external partners and regulatory requirements; guide the team accordinglyFoster a climate of open and transparent communication within team, FinOps and key stakeholdersPerform interviews and ensure effective on-boarding and successful training of new employeesPeople Leadership SkillsBuilds strong and capable teams, with the skills and talent required to succeed in a challenging and rapidly changing environmentCritical thinker with ability to understand end-to-end processes crossing multiple areas of the bankProvides effective day-to-day coaching; share and teach best practicesIs able to find opportunities to optimize the allocation of resources across the units, taking into account workload / utilization across the teamBe an effective coach and offer development opportunities to team membersProvide meaningful and timely performance reviews, including regular feedback throughout the year to team membersEngage and work with partners across FinOps, BP and Specialized FunctionsComfortable leading through change, process improvements and transformationJob RequirementsUndergraduate business or accounting degreeProfessional Accreditation such as CPA or post graduate degree would be an assetAdditional Information :Strong finance acumen – understanding the business and related processesLeadership or supervisory experience in a finance or operations-like environmentHighly analytical with a solid knowledge of Global Equity Markets and productsGreat aptitude for numbers with solid quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong understanding of the financial and accounting standards applicable to financial institutionsExcellent analytical skills in assessing risk, issues and challenging the status quo; adept at using productivity tools and end-user software (such as MS Office suite)Skilled at leading and motivating a diverse group of professionalsBrings out the best in people through use of positive influenceGood communicator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employeesEncourages collaboration by bringing together multiple partners to align on solutions and address contending prioritiesAbility to stay resilient under pressureRobust organizational skills with the ability to work in a demanding environment and handle multiple deadlines and prioritiesInclusivenessAt TD, we are committed to fostering an inclusive, accessible environment, where all employees and customers feel valued, respected and supported.
