Your Opportunity: Drayton Valley has an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Aide to join their Acute Care nursing team! As a Health Care Aide, you will be an important member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating genuine interest and respect for the clients. To be successful in this position you will demonstrate excellent communication and observational skills, and report changes in client care needs and conditions to the LPN or RN. As an HCA and member of our nursing care team, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our residents and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct patient and family-centered care. Drayton Valley is located in the Central Zone, just 133 km southwest of Edmonton and 172 km northwest of Red Deer. The town has a population of over 7,000. In and around the area are a library, movie theatre, bowling alley, camping areas, 6 golf courses, and a ski hill. The Omniplex encompasses three multi-purpose recreation facilities, all under one roof. Conveniently located in the heart of Lions West Valley Park, the Omniplex is surrounded by five baseball diamonds, a soccer field, the rodeo grounds, a secluded day-use park and a 40-site full-service RV Park. Description: As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.Classification: Health Care Aide Union: AUPE AUX Unit and Program: Medical Nursing Primary Location: Drayton Valley Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.70 Posting End Date: 15-JAN-2024 Temporary Employee Class: Temporary Part Time Date Available: 25-JAN-2024 Temporary End Date: 28-APR-2024 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 42 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $20.78 Maximum Salary: $25.26 Vehicle Requirement: Not ApplicableRequired Qualifications: Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications: Ability to meet the physical demands of the job that involve periods of physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting weights to 25 kg. Preferred Qualifications: Recent Acute Care experience (within the last three years). Ability to communicate effectively with a geriatric population.
