Job Description

Choices is a recognized leader in providing supports and services for people with developmental disabilities. We ensure that the people we support have opportunities to live and participate in their communities by enhancing quality of life, promoting social inclusion and self worth.We are looking for Part Time Weekend On-Call Supervisors to join our team. As part of Residential Services, the On Call Supervisor will provide support and direction to staff of all CHOICES programs in the designated hours of work.The On Call Supervisor responds to calls from staff seeking direction or support in situations relating to people supported’s well-being, maintenance within the location, and backfilling short-term staff absences. Number of positions: 2Working Hours: 4pm Fridays to 9am Mondays Salary: $30,000 - $40,000 annualResponsibilitiesOn Call:

  • Provide supervision, direction and guidance to staff during the stipulated working hours to ensure programs are adequately staffed, people supported needs are met and manage problems as presented.
  • In an emergency, provide onsite support for staff when situations require a Supervisor’s presence.
  • Update and maintain on-call resource database and track after hours and weekend absenteeism statistics.
  • Keep the Program Managers and the Director of Service informed of relevant people supported and program information.
  • Provide feedback to Program Managers regarding staff performance and attendance issues
Schedulingamp; Shift Filling:
  • Respond to calls related to staff absences and backfill vacancies as necessary, redeploy staff as needed, and support program-specific scheduling needs (e.g., coverage needed for appointments, outings, etc.) in accordance to the provisions of the Collective Agreement (CA), Employment Standards Act (ESA), CHOICES’s policies and procedures, and applicable legislation.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scheduling software system to ensure optimal utilization and to act as a resource to users needing assistance.
Administrationamp; Documentation:
  • Participate in the direct training, evaluation and feedback of new hires working weekends.
  • Filing and updating of Serious Occurrence Reporting as needed
  • Updating and filing of all ShareVision reporting such as Incident Reports, Case notes and Behaviour Strategies Tracking
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Services and/or designate.
Requirements and skills
  • Completed diploma/degree in a field related to social services. Other educational backgrounds may be considered where the incumbent has related experience and qualifications.
  • A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in providing support to those with developmental disabilities in a variety of roles including those that demonstrate leadership.
  • Experience should include report writing, staff training, coaching others, knowledge of participant needs and strategies to support them, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Ability to solve problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues, able to use reason, even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Proficiency in the use of the computer including but not limited to scheduling software, electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, and internet
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Working Conditions
  • Pressures: As this is a Supervisorial position, stress is an inherent part of the role. On-call Supervisor will interact with people supported, staff, families and community members whom are experiencing stressful situations related to agency services, policies, decisions and community supports.
  • Working Hours: This position requires providing round-the-clock coverage, working evenings, early mornings, weekends and holidays.This position is responsible for coverage during the Weekend/Holiday on-call system.As such, it is a requirement that the incumbent be able to be a part of this team, including staffing the programs when no other options are available.
