Job Description

Valard, is Canada’s premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies AND part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.The Health and Safety Administrator is responsible for providing safety administrative support to Valard Construction, and sister companies as required, assisting the team in meeting their goals, deadlines, outcomes and responsibilities, ensuring a safe and effective environment for the company and all team members. The Health and Safety Administrator reports to the Supervisor, Safety Programs and Services and is responsible for providing support, administration and document control within the Health and Safety department as related to safety analytics, contractor compliance, electronic system management and safety records management. KEY (CORE) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Valard’s electronic health and safety document reporting tool (BIS/SafeTapp) including, but not limited to, training, troubleshooting, reporting, form creation and enhancements.
  • Quality review of submitted incident reports.
  • Maintain safety statistics and incident tracking, identifying and reporting trends as they arise.
  • Maintain company and client compliance databases, making updates as needed (ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, Avetta, Cognibox, CQN etc).
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required; presentation may be required.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Prepare safety documentation for audits and provide audit support as required.
  • Provide support to field staff by maintaining open presence and communication in the office.
  • Create and update process and policy documentation.
  • Maintain open communication with field and project team members to ensure safety record management requirements are met.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior administrators or any modified workers.
  • Assist with general office duties as needed (e.g., sending supplies to work sites).
  • Maintain Valard’s safety positive incentive program.
  • Maintain inspection records as required.
  • Other support duties as required.
KSA (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSamp; ABILITIES):
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint.
  • Effective management of ongoing deadlines and pressures in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ensure confidentiality and discretion of all records handled.
  • Ability to simultaneously balance needs of the day with routine responsibilities, projects and tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and quality work, possess motivation, dependability, and accountability.

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years or greater of experience in an administrative Health and Safety role.
  • Experience with safety related software such as BIS is an asset.
  • Health Safety Administrator Certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Ongoing interest for continuing training as required by the position.
