Job Description

Due to the remote access to the job sites, resourcefulness will be a key aspect to the success of this role. The Night Baker is a team oriented, motivated person with attention to detail. You will play a key role at one of our remote exploration camps for catering. This position is fully remote, in camp.Responsibilities:

  • Assist buffet breakfast with “daily special” and eggs to order
  • Produce baked goods and desserts from scratch (cookies, square pies etc.)
  • Produce a variety of bread and buns from scratch
  • Provide input on Breakfast Specials , assisting with menu.
  • Practice the “first in first out” rotation procedures to support food inventory control.
  • Participate in a Food Safety Plan using advanced HACCP recording methods.
  • Execute safe food storage and labeling of potential food allergy items.
  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings.
  • Support monthly worksite inspections as it relates to the kitchen facilities.
  • Performs tasks according to safe work practices and safe job procedures.
  • Notify Executive Chef and co-workers of any unsafe practices and unsafe environment.
  • Report all incidents and accidents immediately.
  • Practice good housekeeping in the work area at all times.
  • Support and assist with coaching and training to other kitchen staff attendants.
  • Actively participate as a high performing, team member.
Required Knowledgeamp; Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year working in a similar baking/catering high volume position.
  • Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Highly motivated, team-oriented individual.
  • Ability to work a rotation schedule.
  • Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work and maintain a high level of performance during a 10 - 12 hour shift.
  • Comfortable working alone at night.
Preferred Licensingamp; Certifications:
  • Culinary Diploma or Red Seal designation, is a strong asset.
  • WHMIS
  • Standard First Aid with CPR (16hr course)
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate within the last 5yrs is required.
  • Previous experience working in remote camp setting is required.
