Job Description

Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated for 50 years as one of the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton, and we are looking for a Screedman to work with our company #39;s Asphalt Paving division for the upcoming 2025 road construction season.This is a seasonal position that offers competitive wage with benefits. The primary duties for this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Laying the correct depth, profile and alignment of asphalt.
  • Working with the foreman and paver operator to develop a paving plan for each day.
  • Setting the grade and drainage.
  • Watching the mix for quality or changes.
  • Maintaining the proper grade to help the foreman achieve good cut-offs.
  • Helping to shovel or rake whenever possible or required.
  • Stringing the screed every morning to ensure it is flat.
Requirements
  • Have an understanding of the construction industry and road construction specifications and standards
  • FOR OPERATORS: Must maintain a driving record that meets Park Paving’s minimum standards for vehicle and equipment operation – 6 or fewer demerits in 3 years, no dangerous driving charges, no DUI charges, etc.
  • Display a professional and courteous approach with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Must be physically fit – repetitive bending, lifting, kneeling, walking for long periods of time.
  • Be able to work in inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Punctual and able to work full time, overtime, and weekends
Successful candidates will also possess the interpersonal skills needed to take direction and coordinate their efforts with their crew and foremen, while maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
