Job Description

CASA’s Finance department is looking for a new Payroll Coordinator! Join a team of finance professionals aspiring to further CASA’s vision of a community where all children, youth and families are provided with timely mental health care and empowered to thrive.Job DetailsSalary range/Wage range: $59, 000 - $80,000Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per dayPrimary location: CASA Downtown/Hybrid Union: ExemptFTE: 1.0Status: Permanent About the RoleThe Payroll Coordinator will:

  • Prepare and process biweekly payroll for in-scope and out-of-scope staff in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and the collective agreement.
  • Prepare year-end T4s and related reconciliations.
  • Perform payroll-related general ledger account reconciliations such as benefit premiums, including the health and personal spending accounts.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate processing of payments to government agencies and benefit carriers.
  • Assist with the transition to a new human resources information system and payroll system for the organization.
  • Analyze, monitor, update and collect benefit premiums owed by staff on leave (e.g. maternity leave, short-term disability, long-term disability).
  • Participate in the annual audit process, including providing documentation to auditors as required.
  • Process accruals and maintain records of entitlements and usage of paid leave in the payroll system.
  • Respond to all external and internal inquiries/requests related to pay and benefits in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and submit statutory reporting and remittances, union reporting and related payments, pension reporting and related payments, and year-end income tax reporting and remittances.
  • Prepare records of employment for departing staff and upload the information to the Canada Revenue Agency website.
  • Backup biweekly payroll data and upload the general ledger export of payroll payments into Sage.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all payroll and benefits administration activities, issues and inquiries.
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education with a focus in accounting or relevant field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in accounting and full-cycle payroll processing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism while working with other team members to process payroll.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Experience in Ceridian Dayforce and Sage 300 is an asset.
  • Payroll Compliance Professional designation (PCP) is an asset.
