Workplace: Alt Hotel HalifaxStatus: Full time (permanent)Schedule: Flexible work schedule (morning, afternoons, evenings, weekends)Directly linked to the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Alt Hotel Halifax is a welcoming oasis for when you need to re-energize.JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager the Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for ensuring we provide the highest level of guest service, to guide the department in achieving our strategic direction and to ensure that standards are maintained. As an active member of the kitchen brigade, the Kitchen Supervisor is also responsible for directing the preparation of all food items, leading their team as well as collaborating with other departments.WHAT WE OFFER :

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
  • Prepare and cook foods of all types, on a regular basis, for special guests and functions.
  • Plan, direct and supervise the food preparation, cooking activities and plating.
  • Determine production schedules and staff requirements necessary to ensure timely service.
  • Recruit and hire staff, including cooks and other kitchen employees.
  • Meet and collaborate regularly with the Food and Beverage Manager/Supervisor and the Sales team.
  • Develop a strong team through active involvement in the operations and through the development and support of a continually evolving team.
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff.
  • Analyze recipes based on food, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Coordinate planning, budgeting, and purchasing for all the food operations of the hotel.
  • Monitor sanitation, Health, and Safety practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
  • Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • 3-5 years Culinary Experience in the hotel industry.
  • Experience with banquets and events.
  • Must have a flexible schedule.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize, with an acute sense of time management and attention to detail.
  • Assertive, professional and positive with proven ability to develop and lead in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, outgoing, friendly, persuasive personality.
