July 28, 2022WELLINGTON HEALTH CARE ALLIANCEGroves Memorial Community Hospital • Louise Marshall Hospital • Palmerston & District HospitalPOSTING #2022-203PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE LEADER - INFECTION, PREVENTION & CONTROL(FULL TIME)The Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is currently accepting applications for a permanent full-time Professional Practice Leader – Infection Prevention & Control. The Professional Practice Leader is accountable for advancing clinical and professional practice and performance across the Wellington Health Care Alliance hospitals through consultation, education, collaboration, coaching & mentoring. The Professional Practice Leader will also work on numerous projects and initiatives to support operational readiness for redevelopment, and will support our ongoing best practice implementation as it relates to the WHCA COVID-19 pandemic response.We are:

  • Three rural Hospitals + one integrated management team = Wellington Health Care Alliance
  • Providing top-notch-round-the-clock care to our patients
  • Located in Wellington County where staff have the luxury of choosing to live in either a rural or urban setting
We have:
  • One full-time Professional Practice Leader position available to support clinical and professional practice as it relates to infection, prevention, and control, and ongoing pandemic response at all three sites (Fergus, Mount Forest and Palmerston)

You will:
  • Be responsible for supporting the ongoing development of professional practice and inter-professionalism as it relates to infection prevention and control at the Wellington Health Care Alliance hospitals through staff support, mentoring, coaching, education, facilitation and collaboration
  • Be responsible to identify learning needs, develop and deliver education programs and evaluate outcomes as it relates to the implementation of infection control standards and best practices, appropriate use of PPE, and overall pandemic response
  • Act as a subject matter expert for infection prevention and control issues impacting the new Groves Hospital redevelopment project and move to the new hospital site
  • Facilitate, lead and engage as an active member of committees and task forces, and ensure clinical best practice and professional standards are embedded in work plans and align with the strategic goals of the Alliance
  • Support the Director, Quality & Patient Safety to manage and advance the patient safety program as it pertains to infection prevention and control as it impacts redevelopment and the pandemic response
  • Support the development of the key deliverables of the strategic plan, safety, quality & performance improvement initiatives, and quality framework to ensure excellence in patient care & experience
  • Support the onboarding of new staff and professional staff through the ongoing development and delivery of the general orientation program and advocate to ensure infection prevention & control standards and best practices are embedded in all inter-professional policies, processes and programs and provide consultation with Long term care homes as needed as per MOH directives for Pandemic responses.
  • Champion the mission, vision and values while promoting staff and patient safety, patient experience, and engagement
  • Participate on external committees as required to promote, advocate for and represent the Alliance
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • A Health Care Professional in good standing with their respective College/Licensing Body (i.e. College of Nurses, College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario, College of Speech Language Pathologists)
  • Have a university degree in a clinical discipline or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Have additional courses and certification in infection prevention and control (e.g. Certification in Infection Control from IPAC Canada)
  • Have at least five years progressive leadership experience in hospital industry with a focus on infection prevention and control
  • Have strong computer/technology skills with extensive experience working with Meditech preferred
  • Have proven project management skills, experience with supporting the development and implementation of clinical technologies (e.g. documentation systems, equipment, etc.) and associated work flow processes with a demonstrated impact on staff satisfaction and patient safety
  • Are high energy and engaging, with demonstrated skill in communicating ideas across a variety of platforms and mediums (e.g. verbal, email, presentations, etc.), demonstrated ability to work independently, meet timelines, work within and lead a team, chair committees or participate as an active member; strong organizational skills to support the effective prioritization and management of multiple priorities
  • Have a valid Ontario Driver’s License & reliable transportation
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
  • Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired
HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per weekThe majority of the work will be completed during normal business hours Monday to Friday. Occasionally attendance at meetings/hospital events during non-traditional hours (early morning, evenings and weekends) is required.
