Job Description

Geologist Project ManagerReporting to: Director of OperationsJob Purpose:The Geologist Project Manager’s primary role is to oversee the activities of GroundTruth Exploration technical and logistical personnel in the Company’s Advanced Exploration camps.This is a contract position with the potential of it leading to Full Time dependant on work volume. The ideal candidate will have 10 to 15 years previous experience.Job Overview:This contract position will be primarily field based in the Company’s Advanced Camps supporting diamond and RC drilling programs. Secondary roles will be core logging as required for relief of logging geologists, prospecting and mapping, data compilation and interpretation and report writing.Geologist Project Manager Operational Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Directory of Operations and working with the Client’s Project Managers, oversee
GTE technical and logistical personnel in the Company’s Advanced Exploration camps including approving time sheets,
  • Ensure that GTE staff and contractors in Advanced Camps adhere to all the Companies Health and Safety protocols and procedures.
  • Working with logistical managers, oversee the daily planning of the camps logistical activities such as helicopter schedules, supply runs, and crew set outs
  • Ensure that flight trackers and Sampling and Survey cost trackers are maintained and up to date, • Ensure that sample shipments are properly documented and shipped on a timely and regular basis,
  • Ensure that data collected by GTE technical staff is done so according protocol and properly archived,
  • Assist in the training of GTE technical personnel both in the Company’s Health and Safety protocols and their specific work activities,
  • Assist in core and RC logging as needed, usually as relief of designated logging geologists. • Participate in prospecting and mapping programs,
  • Participate in data compilation and interpretation and exploration planning, • Compile and write assessment reports
  • Prepare and submit assessment filing documents.
Safety Responsibilities:
  • Reporting all Hazards, Near Misses, Close Calls, Incidents, Injuries and Non-Conformances. • Adhering to all Safety Employee Rights and Responsibilities; including but not limited to, refusal of any unsafe work, whilst working towards a safe alternative.
  • Working competently, safely and professionally at all times: in the field, in camp and transit. • Participating in daily Safety Meetings as well as After Action Shift summaries, and all Emergency Response Plans (ERP).
  • Wearing and maintaining all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Working Conditions
The Geologist position requires the employee to work outside in various terrain and weather conditions.The weather conditions include but are not limited to; a temperature range of -20°C up to +35°C, very dry to very humid climate, heavy rainfall, wind and snow. Terrain can vary from rolling hills to steep mountain sides. Work days are 10-hour shifts that run 7 days a week for the duration of the project unless otherwise stated. The project location may be reached by a variety of transportation methods such as; truck, helicopter, boat, fixed-wing aircraft or all-terrain vehicles. Every camp will be provided with a wall tent or tents of similar structure depending on location, satellite internet and all other camp elements. Employees will be working and living in close quarters with the rest of their crew for the duration of the project. Communication outside of camp may be limited as there is no cellphone service, and the satellite internet is not high-speed. Exploration projects are frequently remote and isolated. It is important to recognize that transportation between the project and the city may take upwards of 10 hours.Medical conditions that may be serious in nature such as but not limited to; severe allergies, breathing conditions, heart conditions, diabetes, epilepsy and others, are recommended to be informed to the Safety & Training Officer, Direct Supervisor and/or Director of Exploration. It is important that the company knows what kind of care is required in the event of an emergency as it may take 10 or more hours to transport a person in need of professional medical care from a project location to a health center.Lifting and Physical Requirements:This role requires a high degree of physical strength and stamina in order to perform the job responsibilities. Physical Demands may include:
  • Lifting up to 70 Lbs. unassisted
  • Repetitive bending
  • Hiking on uneven/ mountainous terrain for extended periods of time
  • Exposure to cold and exposure to heat
  • Exposure to noise
