Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY : Under the direction of the Coordinator of Student Services, the incumbent will be responsible for the recruitment of high-level student-athletes for the hockey program, planning, implementation, development, academic support, management, and evaluation of programs of activities related to student life, particularly regarding the women #39;s hockey programamp; academic success for all of our student-athletes. This position includes individual and group support for students.DUTIES: The incumbent is involved in the organization and in implementation of the following activities, projects:

  • Participate in the recruitment of student-athletes (at the high school and college level) for the regular season and prepare a succession for future years.
  • Recruit the team of assistant coaches, equipment attendant and ensure their supervision.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate training campsamp; high-level tournaments to attend throughout the season.
  • Establish a network of contacts to develop constructive collaboration between stakeholders in the school (secondary, college and university) and civil hockey network.
  • Establish a playing system that complies with the rules of the art recognized in the hockey world to ensure superior quality of play and see to its implementation.
  • See to the planning and implementation of both collective and individual training which will ensure the sporting development of the student-athlete and the team while respecting the latter #39;s educational path.
  • Supervise student-athletes during all sporting activities related to hockey, both on the ice rink, during coaching periods, during physical preparation sessions as well as during transportation and at accommodation locations.
  • Promote Heritage College hockey program and recruit potential student-athletes.
  • Participate in CEGEP and RSEQ coaching meetings.
  • Be a good ambassador of the program in the Outaouais region and across Quebec.
  • Development of coaching staff.
  • In collaboration with Student Service Coordinator, maintain the program #39;s budget; travel, equipment, uniforms, tournament, etc.
  • Participate in the academic monitoring of student-athletes and collaborate with the academic advisor on athlete success.
  • Supports the development of innovative solutions or new tools contributing to student success for students-athletes.
  • Take parts into the College wide events and activities.
  • Represent the CEGEP at events related to its dossiers and portfolio.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
    Schooling and Experience
    • Must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a Head Hockey Coach.
    • HP1 Hockey Quebec Certified or comparable Hockey Canada Certification, or in completion by Fall 2024. Minimum of HP1 trained for Fall 2023.
    • Must have completed studies in relevant fields.
    • Must have relevant experience in running a hockey program leadership, community engagement, public speaking and event planning.
    • Must have a great understanding of women #39;s hockey in the region.
    Other Requirements
    • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and to deliver multiple projects under tight timelines.
    • Must possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in teams, lead, and collaborate with others.
    • Very good knowledge of Microsoft #39;s Office suite software, including Word, Excel and Outlook (Office 365 an asset).
    • Explicit skills for remote and onsite animation activities with a diverse clientele.
    • Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Must be diligent, dynamic, creative and detail oriented.
    • Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to different situations.
    • Must have a strong work ethic and exercise discretion.
    • Knowledge of the Cégep system would be an asset.
    ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
      SALARY RANGE (PER HOUR):- SPECIFIC SECTION: SALARYTo be discussed, according to qualifications and experience.Contractual full-time position for a period of two years with possibility of extension.Knowledge of the CEGEP system would be an asset.
