Provides advice, guidance and instruction to all staff and Members of Council for support related requests.WORKING PROCEDURES:Communication, Liaison and Customer Service Activities:

  • Provide Tier-2 support for tickets escalated by the IT Client Services group in a professional and efficient manner
  • Provide service to clients (i.e., internal staff, Mayor & Council, fire & emergency services, library services, The Link tenants, WBS customers, etc.) by analyzing their needs, responding to their inquiries/requests and providing guidance and familiarization with the available information technology services
  • Write and maintain various systems documentation, change management procedures, operational support documents, training guides and release notes
  • Liaise with technical subject matter experts, internal and external partners/stakeholders, and vendors to identify and resolve IT infrastructure related issues and/or recommendations of industry standards best practices
  • Coordinate and administer end user training for corporate IT systems, applications, and policies
Systems Support Functions:
  • Responsible for applying analytical and technical skills in the resolution of escalated service requests relating to enterprise IT systems (i.e., mail servers, active directory), applications (i.e., enterprise resource planning (ERP), and infrastructure (i.e., VPN networks, Wireless Broadband, etc.)
  • Ensure the integrity, stability, and availability of IT services by maintaining, monitoring, implementing, deploying, and supporting all systems and processes provided and supported by the ITS division
  • Support, design, configure, deploy, and maintain corporate network and security infrastructure to ensure efficient day-to-day operations and mitigate risks from potential threats
  • Analyze performance of the computing and telecommunications infrastructure (i.e., telephony systems, LTE networks, Wireless Broadband, etc.) to identify problem patterns and make recommendations to improve the reliability and maintainability of the infrastructure and service
  • Responsible for the management and monitoring of scheduled network and system backups
  • Responsible for the integrity and management of corporate data and enterprise storage (i.e., access permissions, file versioning, sensitive and confidential documents, data retention, etc.)
  • Responsible for the management of warranty, vendor, and contract licensing for all infrastructure related equipment and software applications
  • Responsible for the acquisition, verifications and validation of new technology services prior to deployment by leveraging industry best practices, historical information, experience, tools, and processes
  • Actively protect corporate information technology from internal and external threats and ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for the management, operations, and support of critical systems (i.e., Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, Building Automation Systems (BAS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Security and Closed-circuit Television (CCTV). Including but not limited to programming, training, monitoring, and scheduling of magnetic locks and panic buttons.
  • Provide support to municipal functions such as Council/Committee meetings, Municipal Elections, eDiscovery requests, etc.
  • Provide support to the Town’s Operations & Infrastructure group during the activation of alarms related to the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system;
  • Provide support to the Town’s Emergency Plan during the activation of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and Departmental Operations Centre (DOC);
Other ITS Functions:
  • Plan and manage system updates, proactively monitoring and recommending enhancements to mitigate business systems interruptions and ensure business continuity
  • Assist with the development of business cases, tender documents, statement of work, project charters, etc.
  • May assist in handling of political, confidential, sensitive and investigation requests

Experience:
