Manager of OperationsThe Town of Golden, (www.golden.ca), is in the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa and Secwepemc people. Golden is also the chosen home of the Métis Nation Columbia River Society. Golden is situated in southeastern British Columbia, Canada, 262 kilometres west of Calgary, and 713 kilometres east of Vancouver. Nestled in the Rocky Mountain Trench built around the confluence of the Columbia and Kicking Horse rivers, surrounded by three different mountain ranges (most notably the Purcell Mountains and Rocky Mountains) and five national parks. The prominence of their historical forest and rail industries and Goldens designation as a Resort Municipality combine to create necessary services and amenities for those chose to live, work, and play here. With a population fast approaching 4000 residents, Golden is known for its year-round recreation opportunities: world class skiing, mountain biking, hiking, golf, snowmobiling, horseback riding, and rafting. To meet the increasing demands of the community’s significant growth, as well as providing residents and visitors the very best of services, the Town of Golden is looking to attract a strategically focused professional as Manager of Operations.Reporting to the Director of Public Works, working closely with a dedicated team of professionals, third-party contractors and consultants, your responsibilities are extensive. You will oversee multiple Public Works functions including roads, drainage, wastewater collection, water supply, distribution, parks, solid waste collection, traffic management, and dikes.As the ideal candidate, you are well credentialled in areas of infrastructure coupled with five to 8 years’ experience working in an active supervisory role in municipal government or a related field in Operations or Engineering, supported by related training in human resource management, project management, risk management, policy development and WorkSafeBC regulations. In addition, you will have accreditation with the Environmental Operators Certification Program, and experience supervising personnel within a unionized environment. You are a hands-on, strategic, big picture leader, solutions oriented, and deal effectively with competing priorities. You are highly respected for your ability to work well under pressure and deliver results. You have experience managing diverse teams of highly motivated and well-respected professionals and are well regarded for your professionalism, commitment, and passion in your leadership role. You hold your staff accountable, yet you are realistic.
