Job Description

Reporting to the President, the CFO will be responsible for planning, executing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities for Compass. Specifically, the CFO will have overall accountability for corporate finance, accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, tax, financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting. The CFO will be required to interpret financial information and anticipate trends and financial implications to support business development activities.Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial side of Compass office directly linking information to the President
  • Understand the financial and operational condition of the company to advise and support the President
  • Evaluating and implementing strategic business development activities in the preparation and analysis of proformas and associated documentation of opportunities
  • Ensuring accurate financial and managerial information to improve decision-making by the Senior Leadership team
  • Continuously monitor CASL’s financial position; prepare accurate, timely reports
  • Draft business plans for financing proposals and additional product lines as directed
  • Assist President in raising business capital
  • Prepare short and long-term budgets in consultation and cooperation with CASL management
  • Maintain positive relationships with banks, actual and potential investors
  • Identify financial, legal and ethical risks, report material issues, design and implement appropriate controls
  • Prepare and distribute quarterly financial forecasts, analyze variances from budget and recommend measures to mitigate negative results
  • Advise and lead the financial team in meeting the banking/financial reporting requirements to satisfy covenants
  • Research and recommend improved business standards, policies and procedures
  • Maintain awareness of potential corporate tax issues, consult and cooperate with external accountants in tax planning.
Qualifications:
  • CPA, CA designation preferred
  • University degree in Business, Forestry Management, or related field or 5-10 years of experience in a related position
  • Progressive forward thinker who excels in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical reasoning backed with entrepreneurial and strategic business sense
  • Experience in budget and cost management
  • Strong business development skills along with leadership skills
  • Interpersonal skills to successfully communicate with staff at all levels of Compass
