Your Opportunity:Are you an undergraduate physicist or engineer that is looking to grow an exciting career in Cancer Care Alberta Services is currently looking for a Medical Physicist Assistant (MPA) to join our Radiation Medicine Program at the new and state-of-the-art Grand Prairie Cancer Center (GPCC). Reporting to the Director of Medical Physics for Community Oncology this exciting role will be a key contributor to the Oncology team. Importantly, you support Medical Physicists in the development and quality assurance of innovative Cancer therapies like Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT). The MPA will assist with the ongoing development, documentation, reporting and review of procedures relating to these treatment devices. The successful MPA will be provided with unique opportunities to collaborate in clinical investigations and related research. The GPCC is a modern facility located in the Grand Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH). As one of four Regional Cancer Centres within Cancer Care Alberta (CCA), GPCC provides high quality safe patient care and promotes the inclusion of patients and families in care decisions to enhance their patient experience. A growing city with close to 70,000 residents, Grande Prairie is located in northwest Alberta featuring big city amenities alongside majestic rural beauty and adventure. The new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH) that opened in 2021 is bringing care closer to home for the 400,000 Albertans living in the North Zone. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. You will assist the Medical Physicist to ensure equipment within the area is fully functioning, this includes performing the full range of quality control checks on medical devices administered by the Medical Physicist and reviewing procedures related to radiotherapy and/or diagnostic imaging devices. You will also provide research support and assist with training students as needed.
