Job Description

Base Location- Grand Cache, AlbertaReporting to the HSE Manager, the Health, Safety & Environmental Field Advisor works with all levels of the organization and is responsible and accountable to ensure that HSE standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. The HSE Field Advisor in Saskatchewan will take a leading role in the Swift Current location to ensure the timely collection and retention of HSE documentation, oversee the maintenance of Viking’s HSE programs and strictly adhere to the organization’s HSE policies.Position Qualifications:

  • Holds a NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) designation
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ prior experience in a field role in Pipeline and Facility Construction
  • Strong working knowledge and demonstrated expertise of all pertinent regulations, including OHS, WCB and Labor Standards
  • Standard First Aid, H2S Alive and Ground Disturbance Level 2, WHMIS TTT (Train the Trainer) and TDG TTT (Train the Trainer)
  • Ability to analyze problems, prepare options for consideration, and implement solutions
  • Strong computer knowledge and documentation skills – knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Self-motivated, and able to manage shifting priorities
  • Excellent time management, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to work shift work meaning day or night shift depending on field activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Commitment to corporate strategy and ethical standards
  • Ability to travel provincially and interprovincial as required
Reporting RelationshipThe HSE Field Advisor reports directly to the HSE Manager.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide visible field presence and leadership on all active work locations
  • Responsible for maintaining shop, NSC and yard safety programs
  • Assist in writing and updating SMS and NSC programs
  • Complete weekly site inspections and other inspections and audits as assigned
  • Must be able to travel to all locations to ensure program effectiveness through field level hazard assessments, safety meetings, JSA and Inspections
  • Participate in major incident investigations at the direction of the HSE Manager
  • Responsible for managing and providing safety training and onboarding as required
  • Ensure contact hours with field supervisors to mentor and provide safety leadership
  • Ensure supervisors and employees use the safety management system and maintain compliance to applicable legislative requirements
  • Assist with tailgate meetings when on site
  • Responsible for providing weekly, monthly and quarterly safety and training reports to HSE Manager
  • Track employee tickets and coordinate and schedule group training courses as required
  • Create ERP’s, register STARS sites
  • Send out and ensure the completed return of Vendor pre qualification packages
  • Review procedure updates with field staff when completed
  • Utilize and document Viking Projects Ltd.’s progressive discipline process in order to maintain compliance with Viking Projects Ltd. safe work practices and procedures
  • Help foster Viking Projects Ltd. corporate safety culture with all employees
  • Assist Supervisors with mentorship and competency programs
  • Assist with procedure review and creation
  • Full-time on site safety representative on projects as required
  • WHMIS, TDG training
  • Solid understanding of corporate safety management systems
  • Understand and assist Supervisors/staff/employees with the utilization of Site Docs, Keep Truckin and Fleet Complete.
  • Track Employee Safety Tickets
  • Other duties as assigned by HSE Manager
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract, CasualSalary: $25.00-$50.00 per hourAdditional pay:
