This includes assisting Albertans towards realizing their service plan goals, through the provision of support services, and the issuance of financial benefits.Team members within the SFSC Unit are assigned caseloads that you will share responsibility for with the Career and Employment Consultants. Clients will call you directly. You may need to utilize several computer applications and systems simultaneously. The SFSC monitors and supports the Albertans’ service plan by ensuring the Albertan is committed and accountable for progress towards their self-sufficiency. Responsibilities involve assessing and meeting client needs on a regular basis or referring/recommending appropriate interventions including: advising clients of their rights; income support benefit entitlements and their responsibilities; reviewing documents and following up on client file audits, providing referrals and support to help benefit recipients access employment and training services; and labor market information and community resources. You will work in collaboration with a team of professionals providing service to Albertans. This position also involves the ability to work with Albertans in distress and utilize problem-solving techniques to connect individuals with appropriate intervention resources.QualificationsA post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences; no experience required; or equivalencies as described below.

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Proficiency with keyboarding and computer systems (Microsoft Office) and possession of a valid driver’s license is required.A cover letter is mandatory for this position. In your cover letter please answer the following:

  • Experience with web-based computer systems (Mobius, LISA, CCD).
  • Knowledge of the Income and Employment Support Act.

Salary$2,106.93 to $2,738.86 bi-weekly. ($54,991 - $71,484 / year)Notes
  • This is a full-time permanent position located anywhere in NW Zone offices (Grande Prairie, High Level, Peace River, High Prairie, Slave Lake, Edson, or Hinton).
  • You must live in or be willing to relocate to work in one of the office communities listed.
  • Hours of work: 36.25 hours/week, Monday to Friday 8:15 am – 4:30 pm, work week.
